Joining a council or committee is a great way to make connections and impact the work of the HBA. HBA Councils are groups that have formed to focus on a particular segment of the building industry. Some Councils restrict membership to a particular member type and some require a separate annual fee to be a member. Sponsoring a Council is a great way to gain exposure for your business to a specific audience.
Custom Builder & Remodeler Council (CBRC) members must be custom builders, remodelers, architects and designers that specialize in designing and building custom homes in Austin and the surrounding communities.Join CBRC
The Developers Council focuses on issues that affect our developer and builder/developer members, such as zoning, land use, utilities, roads, water, impact fees, and other infrastructure issues. The committee is made up of builders, developers, engineers, land planners, and others associated with the entitlement process. Professional Women in Building (PWB) represents women who are HBA members, member employees or extended families. The local HBA PWIB group is affiliated with nearly 100 local and state councils throughout the country. This council is dedicated to supporting the professional development of women in the construction industry through networking opportunities, community involvement and educational opportunities. SMC members are dedicated to promoting the practice and professionalism of sales & marketing in the home building industry. This Council is affiliated with councils across the country, and is a local council of the National Sales & Marketing Council at NAHB. This group also helps plan the HBA’s annual black-tie awards gala, the MAX Awards, by obtaining promotional partners, encouraging entries, and promoting ticket sales. Join SMC
The Volume Builders Council is comprised of large volume builders (100 units or more) who build in Austin and the surrounding communities. Our regional Chief Building Officials are invited to join members of the Volume Builders Council for a roundtable discussion about upcoming code changes, issues with inspections, and other issues affecting large builders. The Volume Builders Council meets quarterly.
The HBA Young Professionals Council seeks to encourage the next generation of young leaders in our industry to continue the proud tradition of involvement into the future. By providing opportunities for networking, education, and service to the community, the YPC is a place for people under 45 to foster relationships and develop professionally. Join YPC
Committees
Finance Committee Committee develops and recommends financial policies to the Board of Directors and prepares the annual budget. Members of this committee are appointed by the Board of Directors.
Government Relations Committee The Government Relations Committee directs, advises, and assists in the overall government relations and advocacy strategies and initiatives of the Association. The committee examines proposed ordinances, regulations, and rules in the Association’s 7 County area; as well as provides analysis, representation and subject matter expertise to represent the Association and its members to our local and regional agencies and policy makers. Members of this committee are appointed by the Board of Directors.
HomePAC Board of Trustees Home PAC is the HBA’s autonomous Political Action Committee (PAC) administered by a board of trustees. Home PAC’s purpose is to raise money as well as contribute to issue and candidate campaigns supportive of the housing industry. With increasing rules and regulations being imposed by different levels of government, the HBA needs the political clout to make a difference in the election process. Home PAC represents the industry‘s front line in the battle against poor zoning, increasing fees and unreasonable regulations. Members of this committee are appointed by the Board of Directors.
