Understanding Today’s Home Technology and Infrastructure Options
June 13 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
About the Class
There are many available options related to technology for today’s savvy clients, and this course will help guide participants through the myriad of choices. Participants will walk away from this course with a comprehensive overview of current home technologies available in today’s connected homes. The in-depth discussion will include wired vs. wireless, integrated systems—what they are and how they work—and engaging a trained electronic systems professional. This overview will also help attendees plan for proper wiring infrastructure and other profitable electronic systems.
Bill O’Connor is a 20-year veteran of the low voltage industry. When he started, TVs were the size of a small car and cassettes were still a thing. Now, for many people, their main watching and listening device is the same, and it fits in the palm of their hands. Oh, and it controls the security and lighting as well! Bill has lived through the evolution of the low voltage business from simple telephone and TV wiring to the modern home, where WiFi is king and we have the ability to talk to our refrigerator. Bill has a BBA from Texas A&M, an MBA from SMU, and has certifications from the Custom Electronics and Design Installation Association (CEDIA), the Imaging Science Foundation and the Home Acoustics Alliance. Bill was the CEDIA Outreach Instructor of the Year in 2010. He is the proud father of two beautiful, smart, driven daughters, one in the Vet program at A&M and one in the Business Honors program at UT. He continues to follow his passion in this everchanging industry.
