Green Building for Site Superintendents

This course will teach site superintendents how to build homes under Austin Energy Green Building, as well as, how to use best practices to build a green home according to the green specifications listed by their company’s office staff. The goal is for site superintendents to have the tools to pass both rough and final inspections the first time.
Attendees will learn:
- The reasons that a green home is important for the homeowner
- How the rating process works
- The basic and optional requirements for homes pursuing and AEGB rating
- How to prepare a home for rough and final inspections
- How to work with subcontractors to avoid the most common failures

About Lee: For the past five years Lee has worked in Austin Energy Green Building’s residential group, rating homes and developing education programs for homeowners, designers, builders, and Realtors. Before joining Austin Energy, she served for twelve years as the Design Coordinator at Austin Habitat for Humanity where she developed the organization’s nationally recognized green building program, served as a consultant to other Habitat affiliates seeking to build better homes in the hot humid climate zone, and spoke all over the country on greening affordable housing. Her passion is promoting the design of creative, effective shading devices.
