Celebrating the Life of HBA Member Granger MacDonald
Long-time HBA member and home building industry leader Granger MacDonald passed away on July 16. Granger and his mother, former HBA President Jean Granger, were founders of The MacDonald Companies which became one of the nation’s leading homebuilders specializing in multi-family developments in suburban, rural and sub-rural communities throughout Texas.
MacDonald was an influential leader of the home builders federation from the local to the national levels. Through his thousands of hours of volunteering, Granger’s impact made and kept housing affordable and attainable to all Texans. Legislatively, he actively engaged in passages of numerous pieces of legislation that have positively impacted the residential construction industry. One of his proudest moments was being inducted into the Texas Housing Hall of Honor in 2019.
Granger is survived by his wife, three children and three grandchildren.
The family will hold a small, private graveside ceremony. A larger celebration of life befitting Granger’s larger-than-life character will be held at a later date when it is deemed safe to hold such a gathering again.
