HomeAid Update – Food Drive Going on Now

For our 1st Quarter Community Outreach project, we have committed to restocking local food pantries as supplies typically run low after the Holiday Season. The Giddings Food Pantry, serving Lee County, celebrated its 15th year of service to families in September 2019.  The Food Pantry, which is incorporated as a non-profit corporation under the name Giddings Area CARE Center, currently distributes free food to over 325 families per month.  During the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, the Food Pantry is able to distribute 10 lbs of chicken leg quarters to each family in addition to the regular food assistance, as a special Holiday gift.

The Round Rock Area Serving Center is a nonprofit organization that carries out a community-wide mission of churches, other organizations, and individuals serving human needs in the City of Round Rock and surrounding areas. Services provided include a food pantry, clothing and furniture vouchers, Computers for Kids, community gardens, and Keep Round Rock Warm—just to name a few. Daily bread is offered in their lobby to all who visit the Serving Center, and their shelves are stocked with bread and pastries/treats from local partners like HEB.

For information on how you can help us gather food items for both the Giddings Food Pantry and the Round Rock Area Serving Center, please reach out to our Program & Events Manager, Kelsey Helton.  For a list of requested items, please click here.  We will have a collection bin at the HBA Annual Housing Forecast on the 14th!
