Advocacy Update: 10/21/19

Planning Commission Begins Work on Austin’s Proposed Land Development Code

Now that city officials and development stakeholders have had some time to review the proposed land development code, the Planning Commission is beginning to host public meetings to discuss the code.  The Planning Commission broke into several work groups to study the code and they began to share their findings last week. 

Additionally, the City held a public testing event last Friday where people brought marked up versions of the code or the map and shared them with city officials and staff.


HBA Hosts City Planners from Across Central Texas to Discuss Future Growth

Twice a year, the HBA hosts an Advocacy Forum where city and county planners and builders have a roundtable discussion about future growth in their respective cities.  Planners from Cedar Park, Taylor, Kyle, Leander, Rollingwood, San Marcos, Dripping Springs, and Georgetown attended the meeting.  Highlights from the meeting included discussion about recent legislation, staffing vacancies, and new infrastructure.


City of Bastrop Holds First Reading of Proposed B3 Land Development Code

Last week, City Council voted to table the first reading of the ordinance for the Bastrop Building Block (B3) Code until October 22, 2019. The first public hearing for the B3 Code was held last night as scheduled. The second public hearing will take place on October 22, along with the vote on the first reading of the ordinance for the B3 Code. The vote on the second reading of the ordinance will take place on November 7. In addition to this action, City Council shared an update regarding the zoning of Main Street. All properties currently zoned as residential will be zoned as P3 Neighborhood in the new code.
