More About HomeAid’s Essentials Program
HomeAid’s mission is to build new lives for Austin’s homeless through housing and community outreach. HomeAid recognizes how challenging it can be for families to provide for their most basic needs. HomeAid Austin provides dignity and restores hope through the HomeAid Essentials community outreach program. The Essentials Program is HomeAid’s community-wide drive to collect essential items to benefit families and individuals at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness.
Throughout the year, our chapter facilitates our Essentials Program by collecting self-care items, back-to-school backpacks with supplies, art supplies, etc. These items are then assembled into CareKits and distributed to Homeless Care Providers throughout the year. HomeAid also serves as a facilitator for local companies, identifying a partner organization, using the company’s funds to purchase items appropriate for the partner organization and organizes both kit assembly and drop-off.
