Last Monday, Texas Legislature adjourns sine die
On May 27th, the Texas Legislature adjourned without any indication of a special session.
Overall, this was a very good session for the building community. Many of the concerning bills at the onset of legislation fell short, including legislation to remove the sales tax exemption for residential labor and stricter regulations for flood mitigation.
One important thing to note is that the legislature did not pass an important bill that would have renewed Texas’ Plumbing Examiners Board. What this means for Texas is still unknown, but as it stands right now, the Board will be dissolved by the end of 2019.
The HBA will publish a more detailed breakdown of important legislation that has passed.
