HBA reviews City of Austin new flood plain regulations
The HBA has worked with the City of Austin’s Watershed Protection division on their forthcoming changes to the city’s floodplain regulations. These changes are coming forward as a result of a new federal rainfall study that indicates increased levels of rainfall in the Colorado River basin.
The most recent draft includes several HBA recommendations, including broader exemptions for remodeling and accessibility. However, there are still some issues that need to be resolved, such as grandfathering for existing projects. As of today, there is no set timeline for final adoption.
