City of San Marcos to consider small area plans in certain parts of the city
Now that the City of San Marcos has rewritten its land development code, the city is moving forward with a small area plan program which will allow citizens to identify neighborhood needs on a hyper-local level, such as increasing transportation options, addressing nuisances, preserving neighborhood character, or designing parks and other public destinations.
The city is currently taking feedback on the proposed plan. The HBA has voiced concerns about the risk of these small area plans being used as a way to slow or stop development in certain areas of the city. The city is still considering the ordinance and will not begin taking applications until 2019.
