Controversial Leander ordinance amendments postponed
At their February 16, 2017 meeting, the City of Leander voted to postpone the most controversial sections of the proposed amendments to their composite zoning ordinance. This included the 50% requirement for preliminary platted lots to not have front facing garages and the restriction on the use of septic in certain developments. Council also voted to postpone the entirety of the amendments to the subdivision ordinance for further evaluation. Since last October, the HBA has been opposed to many of the controversial sections, and council’s decision to postpone and evaluate those sections was large in part to the effort put forth by the HBA and its members. The HBA will be meeting with the city in the coming days to try and develop some amendments to put forth before both items return on March 2, 2017.
