What is Home PAC?
The HBA has an autonomous political action committee (PAC) administered by a board of trustees. Their purpose is to raise money as well as contribute to issue and candidate campaigns supportive of the housing industry.
Why contribute to Home PAC?
With increasing rules and regulations being imposed by different levels of government, the HBA needs the political clout to make a difference in the election process. Home PAC represents the industry's front line in the battle against poor zoning, increasing fees and unreasonable regulations.
The Home PAC’s achievements are numerous. However, the battle is not over. There are organizations who want to make it harder for builders to earn a living, believing they do not face enough regulations. These groups are raising money every day to elect candidates who will support higher taxes and vote for more restrictions on where and how builders can construct an affordable home. Without Home PAC contributions, these opponents stand a good chance of controlling your building environment.
Support the single family home building industry today -- contribute to Home PAC.
The Home PAC trustees review candidate backgrounds and their support of the home building industry, judging candidates strictly on their merits. HBA member opinions are an important consideration. Home PAC is independent, bipartisan and registered with the Texas Ethics Commission.
Only personal contributions are allowed as direct assistance to candidates. Company (corporate) contributions to campaigns are not allowed by state and federal law; they can only be used to pay administrative expenses or fund “issue campaigns” like a bond election. Making regular donations to the Home PAC is the fastest, easiest and most efficient way to contribute to those critical regulatory and legislative efforts. Your dollars will help ensure that lawmakers who know and understand the importance of housing and the home building industry get support.
