A Look Back at the 57th Annual HBA Parade of Homes™

The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Austin set a new attendance record for a fall Parade of HomesTM with its 57th Annual Parade of HomesTM that took place from October 16-31, 2010. More than 14,000 visitors toured seven custom homes during the event that took place at The Bluffs at Rough Hollow at Lakeway. Offering “attainable luxury by the lake”, the seven luxury homes spanned in size from 3,500 to 5,900 square feet, priced from the $750’s to $1.5 million. All seven homes in the event have been sold, making this Parade of HomesTM the most successful fall parade in the history of the event.

The Parade of HomesTM offered a diverse line-up of stunning designs from Tuscan to Hill Country contemporary constructed by Rostrata Builders, Stonewood Homes, VII Custom Homes, Jenkins Custom Homes, Master’s Touch Custom Homes, Triton Custom Homes and Zbranek Custom Homes. The builders were delighted with the interest they saw during the event. They reported that a number of people liked the diversity of trends and designs in the Parade of HomesTM. Many visitors received first hand knowledge from the builders about their home designs which prompted some people to ask builders to help them with their next home.

“The numbers of visitors and positive feedback received by the builders during the Parade of HomesTM was encouraging,” said Harry Savio, HBA Executive Vice President. “While it is still a cautious time for the general market, Austin continues to show hopeful signs. The combination of low interest rates as well as good material and labor costs has created a real opportunity for buyers seeking value in a new home,” he added.

The home tour symbolizes the “best of the best” for people looking for the latest in home design. For folks looking to buy, the home tour showcases some of the finest new homes for sale in the Austin area. Before the event started, a panel of private judges selected as Best Kitchen, Best Master Bath and Best Outdoor Living among many other award categories at this year’s Annual Parade of Homes™.

During the two weeks of the Parade of HomesTM, visitors were also asked to vote on their favorite home and Master’s Touch Custom Homes won the “People’s Choice Award” for the 2010 Parade of HomesTMThe 5,900 square foot Italian inspired masterpiece at 305 Bisset Court had earlier garnered top honors within the Parade of Homes for Best Architectural Design, Best Kitchen, Best Study, Best Media Room and the prestigious Best of Show award.

Built within a garden style setting, the home offered a massive hand-carved stone fireplace inspired by the Vanderbilt home in North Carolina. The kitchen was birthed from a French Revival theme with a large stone pizza oven set beneath a recessed wood ceiling with Italian glazed tin panels. Groin vault ceilings with Venetian stucco covering, a private courtyard and dome ceilings were just a few of the stylized features visitors loved about the home.
